A countersunk hole is when a drilled hole has a countersunk bevel such as pictured below.




This is to accommodate the taper of teh mounting screw itself.

Not all screw holes will require countersinking.

You will need to look at your existing pick guard, screws or other hardware to make the determination on your own as to what kind of hole you will need.
